Lending, Use, & Return Policy
1. Each student is allowed to take out 1 book per week, which must be either renewed or returned before additional books are loaned so others can enjoy them. In a special circumstance such as a book report, students may be allowed to take out a second book.
Please ask your child if you notice he/she is not bringing home any new books; a book may be misplaced, or in his/her cubby or backpack.
2. Each student is responsible for treating every book with respect-
Please remind your child to handle the books responsibly by:
- keeping books away from food or drinks
- not folding the book backwards
- using a bookmark or piece of paper instead of folding pages
- keeping the book in a safe place when not in use
3. Students with damaged/lost book fees may not be able to check out additional books until the fees are paid.
4. Each child is responsible for the safekeeping of the book that she or he borrowed;
treat your borrowed book with respect; we do realize that accidents such as the following happen:

There may be a fee applied for damages.
Please do your best to follow the expectations listed below-
5. Students with damaged/lost book fees may not check out additional books until the fees are paid.
6. Returned checks: In addition to what is outlined in the handbook,
returned checks written for library related fees/activities will result in the loss of library privileges for the student until the check and associated fees have been paid in full.
Please see/contact Mrs. Allen for any special circumstances.
7. New this year is a digital library that will include the DCF (Dorothy Canfield Fisher) books that “have been selected to satisfy the reading interests of children in grades 4-8…
The grades listed should be regarded more as maturity levels than reading levels” (Agency State of Vermont of Administration Department of Libraries). These books will be available only through a school-owned Kindle or iPad.
Kindles are available for loaning for e-books
after a contract has been returned.
